Getting to Know Shae...

Growing up the only daughter from a divorced family of six,  I learned early the pain that life can sometimes bring. I experienced the long-term impact it can have on relationships, core beliefs, and the ability to cope in healthy ways.

That being said, I realize it can be a very vulnerable place, sitting on a couch, talking to a stranger, opening up and sharing about some of the most painful experiences of your life. I don’t take this role lightly. As a Christian, I feel called to use the gifts God gave me to help others grow in maturity. By working through unhealthy thoughts and behaviors, we can attain the close relationship with God that is so beneficial to our well-being.

Often the word Christian instantly makes one think of judgment. However, my clients have expressed the safety they feel working with me; and for that I am humbled. My understanding of being a Christian, is  filtered first through the lens of love, and that is what I want clients to experience. “Love is patient, love is kind…” Love is also honest when coming from a place of sincere concern.

I understand therapy is helpful when we learn the balance between what we can control and what we cannot.  It is then that we need to take a hard look at ourselves to recognize how we contribute to the problems in our lives. I want to walk alongside each person, as they gain insight into themselves. I want to help them take ownership for ways they can develop into healthier versions of themselves, by helping them to learn to let go of what is not theirs to own.

If you have the desire for someone to walk alongside of you, call me. We can set a time to begin this adventure as you bravely start on the journey of introspection and healing.
